Communities of Practice

“Communities of Practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.” This definition is taken from Etienne Wenger’s website.

Etienne Wagner coined the phrase Communities of Practice in 1991 and expanded it in his book in 1998. In an interview, Etienne Wenger, discuss whether you are part of a Community of Practice or not.

Further reading on the subject can be found at South East Coast NHS who have produced a number of eLearning programmes.
