Privacy and Cookie Policy

This page explains how the Basildon Healthcare Library uses any information you give to us, and the way we protect your privacy. Protecting the privacy and personal data of the visitors to our site is of the utmost importance to us.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

In accordance with the GDPR, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We will only use your information for the purpose as described and we do not pass on your details to any other government department or third party unless you have given us permission to do so. You have a right to access your personal data and rectify any inaccuracies. We are committed to safeguarding your information. The information you supply will be used to contact you about services or resources you have requested from the Library and Knowledge Service (LKS). We will share your information with the organisations that supply and manage our library management systems. We may share your information with another LKS team if you move organisations (you will receive an email notification if this happens). You may log in to our library management system (using your Library UserID and PIN) to see the data we hold about you. You can request changes by emailing us.

Deleting your personal information:

We will delete the data we hold on you after a maximum 2-year period of inactivity (in case you return to use NHS library and knowledge services again within this time).

Site usage

We do not use cookies for collecting user information. Log files allow us to record visitor's use of the site to enable us to enhance the future layout of the site. The data we gather in this way does not contain any personal information or information about which other sites you have visited. If you provide feedback on our website we will only use it to develop and improve the site. We will keep the actual feedback for twelve months after which it will be deleted but analysis of feedback may be kept.


Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. Text Resize

We use a cookie to hold your session preference for text size, but this holds no personal information.

Google Analytics

Like most websites, we make use of analytics software in order to help us understand the trends in popularity of our website. We make no use of personally identifiable information in any of the statistical reports we use from this package. We use an analytics package called Google Analytics who provide separate details in the Google privacy policy.

This privacy statement only covers the Basildon and Thurrock website. It does not cover links within this site to other websites.

Changes to the policy

If the privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing the page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.
