Clinical Observers

A Clinical Observership is a period of time when a doctor is attached to a clinical unit with a named supervisor with the broad aims of gaining an appreciation of the nature of clinical practice in the UK and observing the role of doctors in the NHS. This includes learning about the legal, ethical and cultural context of medical practice as outlined in the GMC's booklet "Duties of a Doctor".

Clinical Observers at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust can join the Library with a £50 refundable deposit. You will need to register to access the Library services. You will then have the same access as NHS staff. You will be able to use the 2 non-networked PCs located in the Library to access web based emails and the Internet.

Proof of employment is needed to register. You will be given a library card, which will be needed each time you borrow, renew or return items. We ask users to read and abide by the conditions of membership listed on the form. Application Form for Clinical Observership
